The Way of the Cross and the Holy Mass was held on Saturday (20th) while the Feast Mass was held the following day (21st Sunday). The Feast Mass was presided over by the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese and Bishop of the same Diocese His Lordship Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam. He was assisted by the Parish Priest of Delft and Kachchativu. The Navy had provided food, water, sanitary and other basic facilities and also had put up temporary jetties for people to secure their boats. Navy lifesaving personnel and medical teams had been deployed for the benefit of the devotees. The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka had also provided Rs. 2.5 million towards the successful conduct of the event. (Colombo Gazette) Over 7500 devotees including clergy from both Sri Lanka and India attended the feast of St. Anthony’s church in Kachchativu, the Navy said today.The annual feast of St. Anthony’s church in Kachchativu islet was held during the weekend (20 & 21 February 2016) with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy.
