N 24Parganas conducts massive antidengue drive

first_imgKolkata: With the advent of monsoon in the state, North 24-Parganas district administration has taken up massive anti-dengue drive as precautionary measures.All the municipalities and Panchayat functionaries have been instructed to undertake various campaigns to combat dengue and other mosquitoes-borne diseases.The district administration will organise awareness campaigns and urge people to ensure that there is no empty cups, broken furniture and other used materials are kept on the rooftop or in nearby areas. Also Read – Rain batters Kolkata, cripples normal lifeSimilarly, the authorities of schools and other educational institutions, central and state government offices will be asked to clear the roofs regularly.According to a senior administrative official, the officer in charge of different police stations will be requested to ensure that there is no accumulation of water on the seized goods like vehicles that have met with road accidents. The district administrative officials will take report in the implementation of anti larvae drive. According to senior health official in the district, the accumulated water in empty plastic cups, containers and broken furniture are the potential breeding ground for mosquitoes. The district administration has asked all the Panchayats officials and municipalities to spread awareness among people through leaflets. The district administration is also seeking co-operation from them. According to the district administration, if anybody fails to comply, the municipalities will issue show cause notice. The municipalities have been instructed to maintain cleanliness and remove garbage from time to time. Municipality authorities will supervise the anti dengue driver.All the municipality and Panchayats have been asked to sprinkle various anti-mosquito oil in the drains and spread other insecticides in the areas, which are breeding grounds of mosquito borne diseases.last_img
